Subway love

I know there is a term which is held high in western societies called private space. When you don't respect this, you may get into trouble. But here its different, subway is different. We all love each other, except sometimes. And we want to be close, especially on our ways to work, back home etc. So we try how many people can fill this totally empty space (which really is a waste) with tremendous love. This does happen on elevators too, when you are (un)lucky and on buses. On trains and in waiting queues.. love is all over the place.
But anyway, its time to do what is the best to do in such a situation: just plugin your earphones and listen to this track called 'killing me softly'.

Subway

Line 1

This morning..
Subway is crazy here.
I always thought my line to work in early morning rush hour was packed. But then I got on line 1 in evening rush hour. My advice: Don't take line 1 in rush hour. I jumped into an already full packed wagon and is was really really packed. But then ten more people came squeezing in behind me. It was like being in one of those cages where they masshold chicken as seen on tv, just with humans. My poor guitar.

My Dearest

Oh, how have I missed you my dearest.
One week without you was a true tragedy
I tried to overcome the fact that somehow I had forgotten you
Very soon I realized that, but it was too late
But this just emphasizes the value you have in my eyes
You are unique among so many, how did you even appear in my life?
The beautiful shape of yours, the brightning light in which you appear
True glamour comes from the inside and you are just amazing
How glad am I to hold you in my hand again and let the ink fill pages of noble shapes
May it never be again
Merlinda.

Food again: Food Oddities Collection

As I mentioned earlier it's an interesting experience to eat chinese food because when you aren't too shy you will come across very different dishes. So on a camp trip I got to know a not very shy young american friend. On the last evening of this camp trip we as group went to a restaurant and she was open to try the famous 1000year old egg with and even the eye of a fish which as far as I can remember is considered a honor to eat here. I kinda had to eat it too. The egg was good, I actually tasted more of the meat then the egg but the fish eyes taste was odd. It was a little white ball not easy to chew and I think perhaps it is the bigger fish eyes which are more tasteful. But bravehearted it's the experience to take in which counts I guess..
The other day there was a free gift from the hotel we were staying at and it was something wrapped like sweets. I opened it and it seemed to be something similar to meat so why not and I tried it. As far as my chinese goes I knew that "gou" stands for dog and since there stood "gou niu" despite of what seemed to be a beef's head on the wrapper my stomach said NO and I stopped trying it. Later on I got to know that gou also stands for something like "good" or so. So I gues it was not dog meat. But it really seemed so.
So I will try to list foods I have eaten which are considered maybe not very familar on an other part of this world I know people live on and as far as I know also list what this magic food can do:

- Swine feet (good for your face..)
- 1000year old egg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_egg)
- Fish eyes (for your eyesight I guess but then there is the question why many chinese people wear glasses)
- Donkey meat
...

Odd food somebody would like to list or suggest to try?

About swine feet and other deliciousness

In China there are lots of different food.
And as you can guess as westerner you aren't always traditionally used to all kinds of stuff they put on the  table here. But as long as you don't really know what it is and it tastes good, you should be fine.
At some point they maybe will tell you then and your stomach suddenly just begins to turn upside down. This was the case when I joined the family I live with for a meal. Since I am not very hesitant about trying food I
just went ahead and tried the meat on the table. It was a bit harder to eat, since the bone marrow was  around but it was ok and not too bad. But as soon as she asked if I knew what I was eating there and I responded meat, she said swine feet meat and suddenly it felt much much harder to swallow it. I guess its all a point of view thing, but yeah. Since it was difficult to eat, I said, I would prefer other meat, it was still good, though. As a group with me joined for dinner at a typical chinese restaurant we also got some other stuff. As Chinese say "Kouwei" for your taste it depends either you like chinese food or not so much. Donkeymeat also tastes good, wrapped as Beijing duck. And when you eat with people who speak Chinese far better then you do and they explain something about food, just keep pretending you understand and hope for the best. You never know what exactly they were saying and in the end you maybe also wouldn't want to know.

Hello Beijing, again.

Hey Guys,

so well I am leaving for Beijing again. It seems pretty exciting and a good thing to do to me now, but I had some up- and downgoing thoughts about it on the way. Good that it's not very long anymore till the flight takes off and says hello to a westasian country with so many people in it, it's almost creepy. Thank you for a beautiful 1. August evening and the opportunity to see so many faces again before leaving. I wish you a pleasant start in this month and do something new! You know you have to think about something and send it..
Thank you also for the kind and pleasing presents to a more or less would like to be swiss.
Also greetings to an infamous kiddy-camp-sitter, who said bye before, due to not being able to appear at the swiss party.
P.S. Next time people, its a themed party. You are supposed to appear swiss, or at least try. Gosh. It was still nice ;)

Johannes.
